Newark has proudly held a market in the town market place since the 12th century and was the first town in England to hold a market on a Wednesday.  The market place itself is one of the most attractive market places in the UK containing many historic and heritage rich buildings.

The weekly markets are held on:

  • Monday (except Bank Holidays) - pre-loved and collectors market
  • Wednesday - general retail market
  • Thursday - pre-loved and collectors market
  • Friday - general retail market
  • Saturday - general retail market

Regular stall holders include fruit and vegetables, cut flowers and plants, clothes, leather goods, bread and cakes, fresh fish, pet foods, crafts, meat, free range eggs, fabrics, watches and watch batteries/repairs, books and carpets.

Normal trading times are from 09.00 until 15.30.

Special or season markets are also held throughout the year.  These include:

  • Every last Sunday in the month - Artisan Craft Market, Pre-Loved and Eco market
