Newark Market Place and Town Hall created a stunning venue for Newark Day 2008 as over 60 local groups took up the offer of a free stand to promote their organisations. An arena formed the focal point in the Market Place.
First to step into the limelight was the Bujinkan Brian Dojo club, led by Kiyth Fotitt, who impressed the crowd with their demonstration of the traditional art of Ninjutsu and their use of Japanese and Ninja weaponry. Demonstrations of gymnastics, cheerleading, dancing and Martial Arts continued throughout the day and there was also the opportunity to chat to team members and find out how to get involved.
For those looking for something a little more relaxing the Town Hall and Buttermarket was the place to be. The Allotment and Gardening society were on hand with hints and tips and a stunning display of fresh produce which definitely put the less green-fingered amongst us to shame.
There was definitely something to interest everyone with many local groups being involved in the day including –The Workers Educational Association, The Unique Scrap Store, Friends of Newark Town Treasures, the Rotary Clubs, Beaumond House Community Hospice and Nottinghamshire Fostering Service.
Newark Town Council would like to thank all groups and individuals who took part in Newark Day 2008. Without your help and support the event would not have been possible.
