Remembrance Sunday - Sunday 9th November 2025
This year, Remembrance Sunday will take a slightly different format, although it will retain its reverence.
The parade will form up as normal on London Road Car Park, and will make its way into the Market Place where it will form up and await the arrival of the Civic Procession, led by the Town Mayor, from the Town Hall.
There will be a designated area for wreath layers outside of the NatWest Bank, with wreathes being laid on the middle section of the Town Hall steps. Standard Bearers will make a corridor for wreath layers to walk down to place their wreathes, just as they would if we were at the War Memorial.
Reverend Danny Marshall will lead a short service with hymns, lessons and a short address, prior to the parade re-forming and undertaking a route around the Market Place for a march past in front of the Town Hall then returning to the London Road Car Park.
Musical support will be provided by Newark Town Band and the St Mary’s Choir.
The Civic Party will return to the Town Hall for a reception.
Any veterans wishing to take part in the parade are asked to be at the London Road Car Park by 10.30am. The parade will move off at 10.45am.
The wreathes that are laid at the Town Hall will be placed at the War Memorial following the event.
There will be road closures in operation and London Road Car Park will be closed to all traffic from 7am until 12 Noon.
