The Mayors charities this year are Beaumond House, Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust and Mencap
Every year the Mayor of Newark seeks to raise funds for their chosen charities. This year Cllr. Pamela Ball is seeking to raise funds for Beaumond House, Mencap and Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust. Fundraising occurs in many ways including a number of public ticketed events. This year the Mayor is also undertaking a sponsored walk across Italy. In relation to the walk the Mayor has commented as follows:
I will be travelling to Sicily in September to take part in a long distance walk, the Magna via Francigena. I hope to complete the trek within a week.
It’s an ancient pilgrimage and trade route, coast to coast, between Palermo and Agrigento, which is 180km in total.
