We request that you recognise that the Town Hall is a Grade I listed building containing historic paintings, fine art and objects gifted to the town and should be treated with care and respect.

Alcoholic Beverages

Alcoholic Beverages consumed on the premises must be supplied by the Town Council.

The bar service is available with your booking at no extra charge.  Our fully-stocked bar offers a wide range of beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks.

For Dinners and other large social functions a wine ordering service can be provided if requested.

Any special requests for wine can be discussed.


Please confirm if any assistance is required for disabled persons.

A list of car parks and on-street parking is available on request.

Vehicular access to the Market Place has certain daily restrictions.  We shall be pleased to give advice for loading and unloading.

Permission may be granted for the Bridal Car only, to enter the Market Place at certain times.  This permission should be applied for via the Car Parks and Market Manager, Newark & Sherwood District Council, Castle House, Great North Road, NG24 1BY Tel: 01636 650000


Rates charged and invoiced will be based upon actual arrival and departure times, as recorded by the Town Hall Officer on duty.

Making your Booking

In the first instance:

Please contact the Town Hall on 01636 680333 to determine availability.

All completed booking forms must be returned with a deposit of £150.00 and the balance is payable 14 days prior to the date of the event.

Payments can be made in person at the Town Council Reception Office during normal office hours by credit or debit card. We also accept card payments over the phone.

In circumstances where catering takes place the hirer must provide a copy of the Food Hygiene Certificate.

Staff will be happy to assist with the required layout and this can be discussed at the time of booking.

Audio Visual equipment is available.

All rooms can be hired in conjunction with other rooms if required.


Business Meetings & Conferences


Decorated in the Adam style, the Georgian Ballroom is an ideal venue for presentations, displays and entertaining.



Overlooking the Market Place, this historic room is ideal for business meetings, presentations, coffee mornings and receptions.  We are pleased to open the balcony from the Council Chamber, on request.



This room is ideal for small meetings, interviews and presentations.  It is located next to the bar area which can be used for additional space when available.  This is particularly useful for displays or serving business lunches.

Pickin Room

Wedding Receptions & Special Occasions

The Town Hall is a Grade 1 listed building situated in the heart of Newark overlooking the Market Place. Situated on the 1st floor is the Civic Suite of rooms which provide a suitable venue for any event.
After your Wedding Ceremony whether it be held here at the Town Hall, a local church or another venue why not hold your Reception in the beautiful 18th Century Georgian Ballroom.
For a smaller more intimate gathering the Council Chamber which has access onto the balcony overlooking the Market Place is a more suitable room.
In order to give you greater choice when organising your event we have a well equipped kitchen in which the caterer of your choice can prepare your chosen meal. The Town Hall also offers a fully serviced bar and stocks a comprehensive selection of wines.

Civil Ceremony

Newark Town Hall is licensed for the conduct of Civil Ceremonies for those couples who want to enjoy the splendour and sense of occasion lent to the proceedings by elegant and beautiful surroundings.

The Town Hall therefore is a perfect choice for your special day, whether the ceremony is conducted in our beautiful Georgian Ballroom or the balconied Council Chamber overlooking Newark’s historic Market Place.

Please Note – it is the responsibility of the Hirer to contact the Local Registrar to make formal arrangements for your Civil Wedding Ceremony.

Council Chamber

The Council Chamber may be used to assemble guests prior to attending a function in the Georgian Ballroom, free of charge, subject to availability.
Access onto the Balcony overlooking the Market Place.

Located next to the Bar area which can be used for additional space by arrangement.

Pickin Room

Bar & Kitchen


A fully serviced bar which stocks a comprehensive selection of beers, wines and soft drinks.
  • A separate wine list provides full details of reception drinks, wines and Champagne.


  • This large, modern fully equipped kitchen is available to hire for your use or the caterers of your choice.
  • When catering, tables must be covered, table linen is not provided. Crockery and cutlery can be hired from the Town Hall for a small charge.
  • Waiting and clearing staff are the responsibility of the caterer.
